A Control4 home cinema is a room where one press on the remote dims the lights, closes the blinds, lowers the screen and starts the film. We design and build dedicated cinema rooms and living room media walls for homes across Dublin.
Designing a Control4 home cinema for a Dublin house
The room decides the design. A converted garage or basement in a Dublin semi suits a true cinema: a laser projector, an acoustically transparent screen with speakers behind it, fabric walls with acoustic treatment and a raised back row. A living room suits a media wall with a large display, a soundbar or hidden speakers and a fire, so the room still looks like a living room until the film starts.
Control4 ties the equipment together. The projector, sources, amplifier, lights and blinds all answer to one remote and one touchscreen page, and a Film scene sets them in the right order.
- Projection or display. 4K laser projectors with acoustically transparent screens, or large format displays for brighter rooms.
- Surround sound sized to the room. Dolby Atmos layouts with speakers in the walls and ceiling, calibrated once the furniture is in.
- Lighting and shading. Step lights, wall washers and blackout blinds on the Film scene.
- Media walls. Television, fire and shelving in one built wall with every cable hidden.
The living room with an LED feature wall is a media wall of this kind, with the television above a long fire and Control4 running the room. Control4's own overview of home theatre is at control4.com.
Questions we are often asked
How much space does a home cinema room need?
A single garage is enough for a good cinema with two rows. Smaller rooms suit a large display rather than a projector, and a media wall works in any living room.
Do I need a projector for a Control4 home cinema?
No. In a bright room a large display is often the better choice. Projection suits a dark room where screen size matters most.
Can the cinema also be used for sport and gaming?
Yes. Consoles and set top boxes are sources like any other, and a Sport scene can leave the lights brighter than a Film scene.
Who does the building work on a cinema room?
We can take on the whole room, including walls, acoustic treatment and the raised floor, or work alongside your builder. Either way the technical design comes first.
