Control4 security integration brings CCTV, the intruder alarm, video door entry, locks and gates onto one app and the touchscreens already in the house. For a Dublin home that means checking the cameras from the sofa, letting a courier in from the office and having the house look lived in while you are away.
How Control4 security and CCTV works in a Dublin home
The cameras record locally on a recorder in the rack and show on any touchscreen, television or phone. The alarm panel is integrated so that setting it at night also closes the blinds and drops the lights, and a door entry call pops up on the screen nearest you with a button to release the gate.
Dublin houses with a front gate and a long drive suit a video intercom at the gate linked to Control4. Terraced houses are more often about the door: a video doorbell, a smart lock with codes for cleaners and trades, and cameras front and back.
- CCTV. High resolution cameras inside and out, recorded locally, viewable on touchscreens, televisions and phones.
- Intruder alarm. Integrated panels so arming and disarming can trigger scenes.
- Door entry and locks. Video intercoms, smart locks and gate control from the app, with time limited codes for visitors.
- Away mode. Lights and blinds that move as they would if someone were home.
Our Georgian country house upgrade added CCTV with a monitor for the household as part of a Control4 upgrade, and the Galway rescue shows why the network under a camera system matters.
Questions we are often asked
Can Control4 work with my existing alarm?
Often, yes. Many alarm panels have a Control4 driver. If yours does not, we can advise on a replacement that does, or leave the alarm standalone and integrate the cameras only.
Where are the CCTV recordings kept?
On a recorder in your own rack, in your own house. Remote viewing goes through the Control4 app; no footage is stored by a third party unless you choose a cloud option.
Can I let someone in when I am not at home?
Yes. A video door entry call can be answered on your phone, and smart locks and gates can be released from the app or given a temporary code.
Is CCTV installation regulated in Ireland?
Installers of intruder alarms and CCTV in Ireland are licensed by the Private Security Authority. Ask us about licensing for your project when you enquire.
