Rooms are zones. The kitchen might have two in-ceiling speakers, the living room a pair of proper floorstanders you already own, and the garden a pair of weatherproof speakers by the terrace. Control4 amplifiers in the rack drive them all, and a touchscreen, the app or the remote picks what plays where.
In Dublin period houses we try to keep speakers out of sight: in-ceiling in the kitchen and bathrooms, in-wall behind plaster in a sitting room, and a soundbar below the television where a cabinet is not wanted.

Can Control4 play Spotify in every room?
Yes. Spotify Connect is built into Control4, so you pick a room or a group of rooms in the Spotify app or the Control4 app and play.
Can I use the speakers I already have?
Usually. Existing hi-fi, active speakers and soundbars can be wired into the Control4 amplifiers or controlled directly, so nothing good needs to be thrown out.
How many rooms can a Control4 audio system cover?
As many as the house has. Amplifiers are added in the rack as zones are added, from two rooms to twenty.
Will music in the garden annoy the neighbours?
Not if it is designed well. Several small speakers at low volume cover a terrace evenly, where one loud speaker would carry over the wall.
