Control4 rescue in Cork

Brief: a Control4 house whose rack had been overloaded over the years, with a network added to piece by piece and a CCTV system that had stopped recording.

What is going in: the racks are being rebuilt with every cable labelled and routed, the network is being redesigned around a managed switch so the Control4 CORE controller and the cameras each have what they need, and the whole thing is being documented.

Status: in progress. Finished photos will be added when the house is handed back; until then this entry stays plain, because we only show finished rooms.

Living room with an LED feature wall

Brief: a room that stops visitors at the door, agreed in 3D before any work started.

What went in: the room was stripped to the studs and rebuilt around two walls, one cut with vertical LED slots set out by laser, the other a media wall holding a long fire and the television with every cable hidden. Control4 runs the slots, the media wall and the music, with an everyday scene and a film night scene.

Result: the finished room matches the visual closely, striking after dark and calm in daylight. One button runs it.

Georgian country house upgrade

Brief: equipment the owners could depend on and a wireless signal in every room of a large stone house whose system had grown piecemeal.

What went in: a new rack with colour coded, labelled cabling; a new network with access points through the house; CCTV with a monitor for the household; and the Control4 system updated and reprogrammed.

Result: Wi-Fi in every room, a system that responds immediately and a rack any engineer can service.

Network rescue in Galway

Brief: a Control4 house that kept losing touch with its own devices.

What went in: the controller was sound; the network beneath it was not. The network was rebuilt properly, with the Control4 traffic separated from everything else.

Result: the dropouts stopped.

Equipment hidden under the stairs

Two glass fronted cabinets fitted below a staircase hold the rack for the country house above, so the equipment is easy to reach for service and invisible in daily life. It is the finished face of a system upgrade.

The feature wall after dark

The same living room in the evening, slots glowing warm and the media wall lit. One press on the keypad takes the room from this to film night.
